Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television anchor for a journalist as well as a commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as an TV reporter and radio reporter within Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. In 1992, she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a panelist and host on the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was the ex-chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered at the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a wide range of interesting stories including the Iran-contra scandal and tax reform. She traveled with Ronald Reagan during numerous trips to world summits and reported frequently.
